Jaipur: Amidst tight security, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf arrived here on Saturday for a day-long private visit to the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer in Rajasthan.
The Indian government has ruled out any diplomatic talks with the visiting Pakistani Prime Minister.
Here is the live coverage of the day-long visit of the Pakistani PM to India:
Addressing mediapersons, Khurshid informed that the Pakistani PM has left for Ajmer. “We have welcomed him and hosted lunch for him.” He also said that there was no discussion about ties between the two nations since it was the Pak PM’s personal visit. “Ajmer Sharif shrine is a major one for Sufi tradition. Many people from Pakistan come to the shrine. The PM came as one of them, “ he added.

Commenting on the Pakistani PM’s visit, Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh said: “We had conveyed our feelings over this, this is a political decision. Won’t comment on this.”
Taking potshots at Khurshid for hosting a lunch for the visiting Pakistan Prime Minister, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha said this move is against the feelings of the people of the country who are deeply hurt over the January 2013 beheading of two Indian soldiers.
Ashraf and his entourage are on way to the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur to have lunch with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.
The Pakistani PM was received by Rajasthan government officials, not Salman Khurshid, at Sanganer airport in Jaipur.
After nearly an hour delay, Ashraf arrived in a Pakistan Air Force aircraft at around 11.55 am with his family members and a delegation.
The flight of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, who was scheduled to arrive in Jaipur at 11 am, has been delayed. He is coming with a 48-member delegation.

External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will host lunch for the Pakistani Prime Minister at the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur.
BJP Member of Parliament Kirti Azad told a news agency: “First, no serious action has been taken against the beheading of the Indian jawan at the LoC, the perpetrators of 26/11 are still roaming free, we seem to be coward and here we have the Foreign Minister inviting the Prime minister of Pakistan. This shows that we are proving to be a coward state.”
The shrine’s Anjuman committee has decided to welcome Ashraf.
The diwan is the first person to welcome the head of other nations on the main Nizam gate as they arrive at the shrine.
On Friday, a prominent shrine official decided to boycott Ashraf’s visit to protest the January 2013 beheading of two Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. “I have decided to boycott him when he comes here along with his family to perform prayers. I have not even asked for the pass to be in the dargah premises when the Prime Minister reaches here,” Diwan Sayed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan had said in a statement.

The idiotic Indian cannot understand what two Muslims meet together, that too, under the prevailing conditions.
This salman has been the most fundamentalist mohammedan just hiding behind the clean-shaven fact, just to fool bloddy Indians.
He said that he would fill up his pen with blood for Islamic cause, but he did not tell with whose blood.
When he was eating halal biriyani and other food with the killers of Indian soldiers, here in Bengal i.e, East Bengal, Bangladesh, the Hindus are killed by the Muslim butchers.
And the shameless Mukherji comes here to enjoy times with his wife.
And thus goes the life of the coolie-Indians.
The present India rulers have become stooges to the western Raj, under the Catholic Sonia and therefore, they have no gets to act on any provocation or exigence.
They cannot get angry, shame or irritation, as they have become so numbed to be the real slaves of the Italian sonia.
As lomg as Sonia is there in India, Indians would be living this type of life only.

“It’s in our culture to welcome our guests with open arms,” said Khurshid ahead of a lunch he will host for Ashraf at the Rambagh Palace, a luxury heritage hotel in Jaipur.
Khurshid and Ashraf smiled and shook hands for television cameras before retreating behind closed doors for their lunch.
After lunch, Ashraf and his delegation will leave for Ajmer to offer prayers at the 13th century dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti.
Ashraf, who is accompanied by a 40-member delegation and some family members, was received at the Sanganer Airport by Rajasthan government officials.
The Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s flight to India was delayed by over 50 minutes.
An official spokesperson in the ministry of external affairs had said that “The Pakistan Prime Minister is not visiting New Delhi and no substantive discussions are scheduled to be held in Jaipur”.
Asked if a proposal for a meeting in New Delhi was made by India, he had said the visiting dignitary had expressed the desire to undertake a private visit and “all requirements to meet his needs are met. In addition we have not received any other request.”
Ashraf’s visit comes at a time when there is a chill in bilateral ties over the ceasefire violations at the LoC. An Indian soldier was beheaded by Pakistani troops while the mutilated body of another was found in January.
New Delhi had lodged a strong protest over the beheading of an Indian soldier and brutal killing of another.

JAIPUR: Premier Raja Pervez Ashraf arrived in India Saturday for a pilgrimage to a revered Muslim shrine, with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid welcoming him with “open arms”.
Khurshid’s warm words for Ashraf – making his first visit to India as prime minister – come despite strained relations between the nuclear-armed rivals over recent border clashes.
“It’s in our culture to welcome our guests with open arms,” said Khurshid ahead of a lunch he will host for Ashraf at the Rambagh Palace, a luxury heritage hotel in the tourist city of Jaipur in northern India.
An Indian foreign ministry official told AFP however there would be no “substantive talks” at the meeting.
“India is happy to host a lunch for the Pakistani prime minister. We are just extending our hospitality,” a senior Indian foreign ministry official told AFP.
Ashraf is the most senior Pakistani to visit India since last April when President Asif Ali Zardari made a similar pilgrimage and had lunch with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Ashraf and his family planned a day-long private trip to the 13-century shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz in Ajmer, 130 kilometers (80 miles) from Jaipur.
Tensions spiked between New Delhi and Islamabad in January and February as a total of six soldiers were killed in exchanges along the de facto border in Kashmir, a region claimed by both countries. Four of the soldiers killed were from Pakistan while two were from India.
One of the Indians was beheaded allegedly by Pakistan.

At Ajmer, Pak PM prays for ‘world peace’
Salman Khurshid Hosts Lunch, Says ‘There Was No Official Talk’
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
http://www.greaterkashmir.com/news/2013/Mar/10/at-ajmer-pak-pm-prays-for-world-peace–60.asp
Ajmer/Jaipur, Mar 9: Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Saturday prayed at the Ajmer Sharif shrine for peace in his country during his short visit to Ajmer and Jaipur, where External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid hosted lunch for him but no bilateral issue including terrorism was discussed.
Ashraf, accompanied by a 40-member delegation, including 20 family members, was received at the Sanganer Airport in Jaipur by Rajasthan government officials and straight drove to the lunch venue, Rambagh Palace.
After their over one-hour long luncheon meeting, Khurshid said, “This was a private visit. It was a pilgrimage (for Ashraf). This was not the occasion nor did I have the authority to discuss such issues.”
He was replying to a question by a newsman whether terrorism was discussed with his guest. “We have taken up such issues. We will do it in future. Today it was a private visit. There was no official talk. We will do it at the appropriate time,” Khurshid said.
Khurshid said the lunch for Ashraf was hosted as a matter of courtesy and in keeping with the post he holds. “We agreed for his programme and everything was done in this backdrop,” he said.
On opposition parties, including the BJP, questioning the need to welcome the Pakistan Prime Minister, Khurshid said, “They just have to look at their own history and they would know why.”
The brief trip of 62-year-old Ashraf to the 13th century shrine hit a sour note following a boycott by the Dargah’s spiritual head in protest against the recent “brutal killing and beheading” of Indian soldiers by the Pakistani Army.
Opposing the Pakistan premier’s visit, local lawyers, some BJP activists and representatives of markets associations staged protests and shouted anti-Pakistan slogans. “…I wish for peace in the world and for peace and prosperity in Pakistan,” Ashraf wrote in Urdu in the visitors’ book after spending 30 minutes at the shrine.
According to official sources, Ashraf thanked Indian leadership for facilitating his “journey of faith” to the Ajmer Sharif.
The Pakistan Prime Minister and Khurshid discussed each other’s personal interest and also shared their experiences and views about other shrines including Data Durbar in Lahore. “There was usual lunch-time talks. No substantive talks on Indo-Pak issues were held,” they said.
Ashraf’s visit was unlike his President Asif Ali Zardari’s trip who came on a day-long visit last April and made a three-hour stopover in New Delhi before flying to Ajmer.
Singh had hosted lunch for the visiting Pakistani President and two leaders also held comprehensive talks on bilateral issues. Prime Minister Ashraf has a close relationship with Bilal Chishti, the ‘Pir’ of the shrine at Ajmer.
Chishti met Ashraf twice in Islamabad last year, in December and August. During the meeting in August, Chishti invited the premier to visit Ajmer.
Ashraf accepted the invitation and said he would visit Ajmer at “the first available opportunity.”
The shrine in Ajmer is revered by many people in Pakistan, including top political leaders.
