While he accepted, during the course of his interrogation, that he was in touch with them, he denied having any inkling of their involvement in the blasts, sources said. Madani had earlier denied knowing the men involved in the blasts, despite several of them, including prime-accused T Nasir, implicating him in the case. Madani, who was arrested on August 17 in Kerala, was in police custody till August 26 and was confronted with various sets of evidence gathered by the Bangalore police during the course of investigations. He was also brought face to face with the accused. Sources said Madani was presented with the telephone call details running to over a dozen sheets for three mobile phones — 9349955085, 9349955082 and 9846838833 — he was using between 2008 and 2009. The call details showed that Madani was in regular touch with T Nasir on several phone numbers , including 9746186452 used by Nasir just prior and after the Bangalore blasts. He was also in touch among others with Abdul Sattar alias E T Zainuddin on 9246547313, with Sarfaraz Nawaz on 9745784882, with E T Sarafuddin, the alleged creator of the timers used in the bombs, on 9961324493, with Abdul Jabbar, who was among five Kerala men who made a futile attempt to go to Pakistan for terror training after the blasts, on 9846286460. Madani subsequently accepted that he knew all the men except Sarfaraz Nawaz, who was based in Dubai and Muscat and who liaisoned for the group with the Lashkar-e-Toiba, sources said. Madani was also brought to face to face with T Nasir, a follower of Madani for over 15 years, who had first implicated the Kerala politician in the blasts. Nasir’s statement says, “When we informed Madani about the blasts he said he would support us in any way we wanted” . According to sources, Nasir stuck by his statement despite Madani’s efforts to deny it. Sources said that Madani accepted the occurrence of this meeting and harboring Nasir but claimed that he did not know they were involved in the Bangalore blasts when they were offered shelter. “Madani now knows that there is a reasonable case against him and that he has not been arrested for nothing by the police,” sources said. |

BANGALORE: Karnataka home minister V S Acharya has done it so often that his blaming the media for his latest gaffe hardly comes as a surprise. On Wednesday, Acharya clarified that he was misquoted on Tuesday. Acharya had said Kerala’s radical cleric Abdul Nasser Madani, currently in Bangalore police custody, had confessed to his involvement in the twin bomb blasts at the Chinnaswamy cricket stadium in April 2010 during the IPL tournament.
This came as a complete shock to the police, prompting Bangalore police commissioner Shankar M Bidari to speak to the minister. Acharya denied he had made such a statement and blamed media for misquoting him. “There’s thorough confusion on the media’s part. I was asked about Madani’s role in the blast and I said the twin bomb blasts were carried out by some extremists and Mujahideen groups at the betting lobby’s instance. Investigation is still in progress on Madani,” he said. He denied stating Madani had links with some Karnataka politicians. “We are yet to find that,” he added.
Bidari said Acharya’s statement was misunderstood by media. “After seeing media reports, I called on the home minister for a clarification. He told me he didn’t talk about Madani’s involvement in stadium blast. There must have been a misunderstanding,” he added. On stadium blasts, Bidari said a separate probe was being carried out by city police. “At this moment, focus is on 2008 serial blasts in which investigation is in final stages. Once it’s completed, the focus will shift to the other investigation,” he said.

Perahaps, ke knows that bombs were exploded and people were killed, but he would say that they only planted, exploded and killed themselves!
In the same way, he might say that he only arranged training at Goorg for the jihadis, but he never knew that they would go to Kashmir and get killled.
He would also accept that Sufiyaa has been his wife but he never knew about her involvement with the TN Bus burning, partnership with Tomy’s wife etc.

First of all, the TN Government should have gone on appeal against the Special court acquitting him based on insufficient evidences.
Definitely, the ruling DMK under Karunanidhi was responsible for aiding anfd abetting those terrorists.
Then again during this tenure, Karunanidhi has released such terrorists under the pretext of releasing on the “Birth day of Annadurai”! If the jail termed served terrorists have not been repenting, but grudging and planning for another heinous act, how the justice could be met both rends?
