ஒரிஸாவில் இஸ்லாமிய தீவிரவாதம் வளரும் விதம்
திடீரென்று ஒரிஸாவிலிருந்து ஆயிரக்கணக்கான வங்காளதேஷ ஊடுருவல்காரர்கள் நாடு கடத்தல் என்ரு செய்திகள் வருவது ஆச்சரியமாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால், அவர்களின் ஊடுருவல்கள் பத்தாண்டுகள் மேலாக நடந்து வருகின்றன. 2004ல் இந்தியக் கொடி எரிக்கப்பட்டபோதுதான், விஷயம் வெளியே வந்தது.
2002ல் ரகசியமாக ரேடியோ நிலையம் நடத்தப்பட்டது[1]: 2002ல், உள்ளேயுள்ள ஒரு கிராமத்தில் ரகசியமாக செயல்பட்டு வந்த ஒரு ரேடியோ நிலையமும் கண்டுபிடிக்கப் பட்டது. அத்தகைய குக்கிராமத்தில், எப்படி அவர்கள் ரேடியோ நிலையம் அமைத்தனர் என்று சோதனையிட்டவர்களே வியந்துவிட்டனராம். கிராமத்துப் போர்வையில் இத்தகைய ஓற்றர்வேலை செய்ய ஹுஜி போன்ற தீவிரவாத இயக்கத்தினரால்தான் முடியும் என்று பிறகு தெரிய வருகிறது.
ஜூலை 2004: சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்னர் – ஜுலையில் – பிடாரகனிக விலங்குகள் வாழ்விடம் மற்றும் கடல்வாழ் விலங்ககத்தின் காவலாளி இவர்களால் கொலைசெய்யப்பட்டான்[2]. தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு பலதரப்பட்ட வியாபாரங்கள். விலங்குகளில் அரிய வகையை கடத்திச்சென்று விற்றால் பணம் கிடைக்கும் என்றால், அதிலும் ஈடுபடுவதுதான் வேலை. இதைஞ்சலாக இருந்ததால், அவன் அகற்றப்பட்டான்.
ஆகஸ்ட் 15, 2004[3]: கேந்திரபாரா மாவட்டம் பங்களாதேஷத்திலிருந்து உள்ளே நுழைந்த முஸ்லீம்களின் இடமாக மாறி, நாளடைவில் தீவிரவாத வன்முறை செயல்களும் வளர்ந்து வந்துள்ளன. ஆகஸ்ட் 15, 2004ல் கனக்நகர் நடுபள்ளியில் ஐந்து பங்களாதேஷத்தவர் இந்தியதேசியக் கொடியை கிழித்து பிறகு அதனை எரித்துவிட்டு ஓடிவிட்டனர். ஆசிரியர்களும், மாணவர்களும் அதனைத் தடுக்க முயன்ற போது, அவர்களை அந்த முஸ்லீம்கள் நன்றாக அடித்துவிட்டுச் சென்றனர். முஸ்லீம்கள் அதிகமானால், எப்படி முதலில் இந்தியவிரோத குணம் வெளிப்படும் என்பதற்கு இது ஒரு சான்று.
போலீஸாரிடம் புகார் கொடுத்தபோது கண்டுகொள்ளாமல் இருந்ததால், மாஜுஸ்டிரேட் மற்றும் எஸ்.பி முதலியோரிடம் ஆசிரியர்கள் புகார் கொடுத்தனர். அதிலிருந்து போலீஸார் இந்த ஊடுருவல்காரர்கள் நட்பு வெளிப்படுகிறது. அத்தகைய போலீஸாரை இந்தியா வைத்துக் ம்கொண்டுள்ளது என்பதை பார்க்கும் போது, ஜிஹாதிகள் ஏன் உள்ளே நுழைய மாட்டார்கள்? கேந்திரபார இந்த முஸ்லீம்களின் தொல்லையால் அதிகமாக பத்திக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது எனலாம். ஆகஸ்ட் மாத ஆரம்பித்தில் வருவாய்துறையினர் மேற்கொண்ட சோதனையில் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான ஏக்கர் நிலம் காடு மற்றும் கடற்கரைப் பகுதிகளில் இவர்களால் ஆக்கிரமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதைக் கண்டு பிடிக்கப் பட்டது.
மேற்குவங்கத்லிருந்து ஒரிஸாவிற்கு நுழைந்து கடற்கரப் பகுதிகளில் ஆக்கிரமிப்பு செய்வது (2006): ஹர்கத்-உல்-ஜிஹாதி எ-இஸ்லாமி (ஹுஜி) என்ற தீவிரவாத அமைப்பு வங்காளதேஷத்தில் இந்தியாவிற்கு எதிராக வேலைசெய்து வருகிறது. ஹைதரபாத் குண்டுவெடிப்புகளுக்கு இந்த இயக்கத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள்தாம் சந்தேகிக்கப்பட்டனர். தமிழகத்திலிருந்து ஒரு பெண் கைதாகியபோது, அவர்களது தொடர்பு மற்றும் நாசவேலையின் வலை பற்றிய உண்மை வெளியாகியது. வேலூரில், ஒரு முஸ்லீம் புரொஃபசரே அடைக்கலம் கொடுத்து, ஊக்குவித்து வந்தார்[4]. ஒரு திமுக அமைச்சருடன், அந்த பெண்ணின் பெயர் அடிபட்டதால், விஷயம் முழுவதுமாக அமுக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டது[5]. இவ்வாறு, அவர்கள் ஊடுருவி, ஒத்திகைப் பார்த்து, உள்ளூர் பிரச்சினகளை தெரிந்து கொண்டு அதற்கேற்றபடி, செயல்படுவதால், அமைதியாகவே, தங்களை ஸ்திரப்படுத்திக் கொள்வது தெரிகிறது. கலவரம், குண்டு வெடிப்பு எனும்பொதுதான், விஷயம் வெளியே வந்து விடுகிறது. அவ்வாறு திட்டமிட்டபடியே ஒரிஸாவில் பரவினர்.

‘ஐதரபாத் குண்டுவெடிப்பு: பெண் தீவிரவாதி – சாகி ரப்சஞ்சானி – வேலூரில் இருந்து படித்தவர் (2004-2007)[6]: ஐதராபாத் குண்டு வெடிப்பு வழக்கில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட முக்கிய தீவிரவாதி சாகி ரப்சஞ்சானி வேலூர் பெண்கள் கல்லூரியில் படித்தவர் என்பது தெரிய வந்துள்ளது. ஐதராபாத்தில் சமீபத்தில் நடந்த இரட்டை குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவத்தில் 43 பேர் பலியானார்கள். இந்த சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக ஹர்கத் உல் ஜிகாதி என்ற தீவிரவாத அமைப்பைச் சேர்ந்த 15 பேர் மீது போலீசார் வழக்கு பதிவு செய்துள்ளனர். இதில், நான்கு பேர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இதில் ஒருவர்தான் சாகி ரப்சஞ்சானி என்ற பெண் தீவிரவாதி. இநத குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவத்தின் முக்கிய குற்றவாளியாக கருதப்பட்ட இவர், வேலூரில் கடந்த மூன்று ஆண்டுகளாக படித்து வந்தது தெரிய வந்துள்ளது[7]. சாகி, வேலூர் ஆக்சீலியம் கல்லூரியில் பி.ஏ., மூன்றாம் ஆண்டு படித்து வருகிறார்.வேலூர் காட்பாடியில் வீடு எடுத்து தங்கி, கல்லூரிக்குச் சென்று வந்தவர் இந்த சாகி. குண்டு வெடிப்பு சம்பவம் நடந்த இடத்தில் தமது செல்போனை போலீசார் கைப்பற்றியதையடுத்து, சாகி தலைமறைவானார். இந்நிலையில்தான், சாகி போலீசாரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். இதனை மூத்த போலீஸ் அதிகாரி ஒருவர் தெரிவித்தார். சாகியிடம் போலீசார் தொடர்ந்து விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

ஐதராபாத்தில் என் கூட்டாளிகள்தான் குண்டு வைத்தனர்-இஸ்லாமிய பயங்கரவாதி ரிஸ்வான் ஹாஜி வாக்குமூலம் : “ஐதராபாத், செப். 22, 2007-ஐதராபாத்தில் கடந்த மாதம் 25-ந்தேதி 2 இடங்களில் தீவிரவாதிகள் நடத்திய குண்டு வெடிப்பில் 43 பேர் பலியானார்கள். இது தொடர்பாக தீவிரவாதி ரிஸ்வான் ஹாஜியை போலீசார் கைது செய்தனர். அவன் போலீசாரிடம் அளித்துள்ள வாக்குமூலத்தில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:- எனது சொந்த ஊர் வங்காள தேசத்தில் உள்ள ஷிட்டகாங். எனது தந்தை ஜாஸ்னல். முஸ்லீம் மதத்தில் தீவிர பற்று கொண்டவர். இதனால் என்னை மதரசாவில் படிக்க வைக்க விரும்பினார். ஆனால் எனக்கு வங்காளதேசத்தில் உள்ள மதரசாவில் இடம் கிடைக்கவில்லை. இதையடுத்து நான் கிழக்கு வங்காளத்தில் உள்ள மாமா முகைதீன் வீட்டில் தங்கியிருந்து அங்குள்ள மதரசாவில் படித்தேன். பின்னர் உருது, அரேபிக் மொழி படிப்பதற்காக விசா, பாஸ்போர்ட் இல்லாமல் உத்தரப்பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள தேவ்பந்த் பகுதிக்கு வந்தேன். அதன் பிறகு தான் ஐதராபாத்தில் உள்ள கயத்நகருக்கு வந்தேன். அந்த சமயத்தில்தான் எனது சகோதரி சாகி ரப்சஞ்சானி வேலூரில் உள்ள கல்லூரியில் சேர்ந்தாள். அதன் பிறகு அவளைப் பார்க்க அங்கு அடிக்கடி சென்று வந்தேன். நான் ஐதராபாத்தில் தங்கி இருந்த போது வங்காள தேசத்தை சேர்ந்த கலீல், முஸ்லியுதீன் ஆகியோரின் அறிமுகம் கிடைத்தது. முஸ்லியுதீன் எனக்கு நிறைய பண உதவி செய்தார். சில நாட்களுக்கு பிறகுதான் அவர் `யூஜி’ தீவிரவாத இயக்கத்தை சேர்ந்தவர் என்பது தெரிய வந்தது. அதன் பிறகு அவர் எனக்கு `ஜிகாத்’ பற்றி சொல்லிக் கொடுத்தார். பின்னர் எனக்கும் அதில் தீவிர ஈடுபாடு ஏற்பட்டது. நானும் ஐதராபாத்தில் உள்ள முஸ்லிம் இளைஞர்களிடம் `ஜிகாத்’ பற்றி பிரசாரம் செய்தேன். `யூஜி’ இயக்கத்தில் இளைஞர்களை சேர்க்கும் பணியிலும் ஈடுபட்டேன். அப்போதுதான் முஸ்லிதீன் என்னிடம் ஐதராபாத் தில் காஷ்மீரைப் போல் புனிதப்போர் தொடங்க திட்டமிட்டுள்ளதாக தெரிவித்தார். பின்னர் புனிதப் போருக்காக பெட்ரோல் குண்டு தயாரித்தார். நான் அவருக்கு பெட்ரோல் வாங்கி கொடுத்தேன். ஆனால் கடந்த மாதம் ஐதராபாத்தில் நடந்த குண்டு வெடிப்பு பற்றி எனக்கு எதவும் தெரியாது. அந்த குண்டு வெடிப்பை கலீலும், முஸ்லியாதீனும்தான் நடத்தி இருக்க வேண்டும். அந்த குண்டு வெடிப்புக்கு பிறகு 2 பேரும் மாயமாகி விட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் தற்போது எங்கிருக்கிறார்கள் என்ற விவரம் எனக்கு தெரியாது”, இவ்வாறு அவன் கூறினான்.

ஹுஜி தளபதி முகம்மது அம்ஜத் சென்னையில் கைது[10](ஜனவரி.18, 2010): சென்னை / ஹைதராபாத், ஜன.18- ஹர்கத்-உல்-ஜிகாத்-அல்-இஸ்லாமி (ஹுஜி) என்னும் தீவிரவாத இயக்கத்தின் முக்கியத் தளபதி முகம்மது அம்ஜத் என்னும் காஜா இன்று சென்னையில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். தமிழ்நாடு, ஆந்திரம், மேற்குவங்கம் ஆகிய மாநிலங்களின் போஸீஸôர் மற்றும் மத்திய புலனாய்வு அமைப்புகளின் கூட்டு நடவடிக்கை மூலம் அவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. பின்னர், அவரை ஆந்திரப் போலீஸôர் தங்கள் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் அழைத்துச் சென்றனர். குடியரசுத் தினத்தன்று சென்னை அல்லது ஹைதராபாத்தில் குண்டுவெடிப்பு சம்பவங்களில் ஈடுபட அவர் திட்டமிட்டிருந்ததாக ஆந்திர காவல்துறை உயர் அதிகாரி ஒருவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். ஹைதராபாத்தில் 2007ம் ஆண்டு நிகழ்ந்த பல்வேறு குண்டுவெடிப்புச் சம்பவங்களில் இவர் முக்கிய குற்றவாளி ஆவார். மேலும், பாஜக தலைவர் இந்திரசேன ரெட்டியை 2004ல் கொல்ல முயன்ற சதி வழக்கிலும் இவர் குற்றவாளி என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. ஹர்கத்-உல்-ஜிகாத்-அல்-இஸ்லாமி அமைப்பின் தென்னிந்தியத் தலைவரான இவர், வங்கதேசத்தை மையமாக வைத்து தனது தீவிரவாத நடவடிக்கைகளை செயல்படுத்தி வந்தார் என்று போலீஸார் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்[11].

New Delhi: HuJI or Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami has emerged as the prime suspect for Thursday’s blast at the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Mohiuddin Chisti in Ajmer.
As investigations progressed, the security agencies have laid their hands on many clues that point to the involvement of HuJI militant Shahid Bilal in the attack that left two persons dead and 28 injured. Bilal is believed to be currently based in Karachi.
The investigators point out that the modus operandi of the attack in Ajmer was similar to that used in the Mecca Masjid blast at Hyderabad in May this year.
Pieces of iron pipe were used by the attackers as splinters that pierced through the pilgrims who had gathered near the ‘Begum-Ki-Dhalan’ for breaking their Ramzan fast. The militants used a mixture of Tri-Nitro Toluene in the blast.
Security officials told PTI that they did not rule out the possibility that the banned HuJI may have been supported by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in the attack, as the latter has been vociferous in its opposition to Sufi strain of Islam.
Sleuths of central security agencies and forensic experts, who combed the shrine complex on Friday, found a bag in which another crude bomb had been kept.
Security experts at the spot said the second explosive device was possibly to go off after the first explosion in order to trigger a stampede-like situation. The unexploded device was to be detonated with an alarm of the mobile phone, but it failed to work thus saving many lives.
The Ajmer attack came just weeks after an alert issued by the Central intelligence agencies, which said HuJI may be targeting some places of importance and that militants of the outfit were already roaming cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore. Even Mumbai and Kerala had been put on high alert. The alert was based on several telephone intercepts over a period of time.
Only last week, the Union Home Minister had alerted the state DGPs of possible terror attacks in any part of the country during the festival season.
The Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, which is apparently inspired by Osama bin Laden, turned its foot soldiers on India since the past three years. It was Osama bin Laden who had set up the Harkat-ul-Jihad Islami or HuJI in his war against the Soviets in Afghanistan drawing Muslim fighters from all over the world.
Today, HuJI-B is headed by the Shawkat Osman and his number two Imtiaz Quddus. Shauqat Osman is known to have links with bin Laden and Ayman Zawahiri. With a cadre strength of around 15,000, HuJI’s goal is to establish an Islamic state in Bangladesh. Their camps in Bangladesh are in the Chittagong hills, bordering Myanmar.

New Delhi, Jun 2 (PTI) Jaipur blasts accused and suspected militant of Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HuJI), Abdul Rahman alias Mohammad Iqbal, along with another accused, was today remanded to three days police custody by a Delhi court.
Rahman, 31, arrested on May 21, was produced after 11 days of police custody before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kanwaljeet Arora, who sent him to custodial interrogation till June 5.
Another accused Nazrul was also sent to police custody for three days. The police had brought Nazrul from Jaipur on transit remand. He was under the judicial custody there since 2006.
The ACMM remanded Nazrul to three days police custody following a brief chamber hearing on the remand applications.
The police had allegedly recovered three kilograms of deadly RDX from his possession, eight days after the serial blasts rocked Jaipur claiming 65 lives.
According to the police, they needed to interrogate both the accused to zero in on their accomplices in other parts of the country.
Iqbal was arrested by the Special Cell sleuths under provisions of the Unlawful Activities and (Prevention) Act.
The police also recovered five detonators and a timer device from Rahman.
Rahman, in his early 30s, was caught from Chelmsford Road near New Delhi Railway Station when he was coming to the Capital from West Bengal. The arrest by Delhi Police’s Special Cell followed a tip off from intelligence agencies.

Jan. 22: Amjad Khwaja, the commander of the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) terrorist outfit, who was arrested by the Chennai police on January 18, revealed on Friday plans of a deadly plot to hijack Indian planes.
On account of this, all Air India/Indian Airlines flights operating in South Asia have been put on high security alert.
Khwaja, who was brought to Hyderabad for further interrogations, told the Hyderabad police that the Islamic fundamentalist groups aligned to the Al-Qaeda or the
Lashkar-e-Tayyaba plan to hijack one such flight.
The intelligence sources claimed the target is possibly an Air India/Indian Airlines aircraft operating to and from any one of the SAARC countries and terror strikes can take place anytime in the near future.
Meanwhile, the home ministry had on Thursday called for an urgent meeting and issued a set of directions aimed at upgrading security, which included deployment of sky marshals on all flights of the carrier operating in the region.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has asked all airlines to conduct a mandatory 100 per cent secondary ladder point check until January 31 on all aircraft flying between Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Khwaja was allegedly behind the Hyderabad twin blasts in 2007 and also the Ajmer blasts in 2008. He is also wanted in the sensational 2005 task force office suicide bomb attack case, in which a home guard was killed.

HYDERABAD: In what authorities are dubbing a prize catch, Hyderabad police have nabbed Shaik Abdul Khaja alias Amjad, said to be Lashkar-e-Taiba’s south India commander and also a key Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI) operative. Police said that the man linked to Mohammed Abdul Shahid Bilal, the key suspect in the May 2007 Mecca Masjid bombing, was arrested on Monday from Hyderabad city limits.
Hyderabad police commissioner B Prasada Rao told reporters that Khaja, 27, was a resident of Moosaram Bagh and has been absconding since 2005. He was arrested by an SIT team of the city police at Afzalgunj, he said.
But questions swirled about the arrest. While Hyderabad police claimed credit on Monday, Tamil Nadu police had said a day earlier that a joint team of officers drawn from TN, AP, West Bengal police as well as central security agencies had arrested Khaja in Chennai on a tip-off from a HuJi activist arrested earlier in Kolkata. AP police denied there was any joint action involving cops from other states.
Prasada Rao said Khaja was known in his family circles as Pappu and was in Hyderabad for a recce for a terror attack. At the time of the arrest, he had in his possession $348; Saudi riyal 313; UAE dirham 225; Pakistani rupees 28,640 and Bangladesh taka 348, he said.
According to sources, Khaja was a close friend of Mohammed Abdul Shahid Bilal, a primary suspect in the Mecca Masjid blast. Khaja and Bilal, whose parents hailed from Nalgonda district, lived in the same locality. The two got involved in a dispute with BJP activist Babji who was trying to install a Ganesh idol in front of Madina mosque in the locality in 2003, and were booked in an attempt to murder case and sent to prison. When they came out on bail, the duo reportedly escaped to Saudi Arabia.
Bilal and Khaja, cops in Hyderabad claimed, underwent terror training in Pakistan. Khaja was made LeT south India chief when Bilal was killed in Karachi on August 31, 2007.
Commissioner Rao said Khaja was being guided by the ISI and recruiting youth for various terror outfits including LeT and HuJI.
The two, cops claimed, recruited several youths from Hyderabad, like Raziuddin Naser, son of Maulana Naseeruddin, and Najiullah Aqeel, grandson of Shaik Mahaboob Ali, founder of Darsgah-e-Jihad wa Shahadat (DJS). Khaja is also linked to Abdul Rehman Hussain, an absconding accused based in Karachi, Abdul Bari alias Abu Hamza, Farhatullah Ghori alias Abu Sufiyan, Rafeeq, Mukthadir, all Hyderabadis who owe their allegiance to LeT and JeM.
Khaja’s mother Lateefa Begum told TOI that her son had been working in SaudiArabia for several years and was in contact with the family over the internet on a regular basis. She said she became suspicious about his whereabouts fivedays ago when he stopped surfacing on the net.
Khaja, the eldest among his siblings, is a graduate. He has one sister and two brothers–Shaikh Abdul Khader, who lives in Saudi Arabia, and Shaikh Abdul Kaleem.

A police team from Hyderabad on Monday arrived in Vellore with Shahi Rafsan Jani, a suspect in the August 25 blasts, to verify the validity of her passport and other documents relating to her visa.
Jani, a Bangladeshi national, had been picked up by the police in Hyderabad on September 1, soon after the blast, and detained under a passport case. Apparently she had not carried copies of her passport with her when the police nabbed her from the residence of her brother Ridwan Gazi, a prime suspect in the blast case.
A team from the Charminar Police Station in Hyderabad, including Sub-Inspector Sreenivas and two constables, arrived here on Monday with 23-year-old Jani, a second year BA Literature student of Auxilium College in Katapady, Vellore. “The team also verified her passport and found it to be valid,” Vellore DSP Pattabhi said.
The DSP said the Charminar police team informed him that there seemed to be no case against Jani as her passport was valid. Jani was picked up on the suspicion that she could have been an RDX carrier. Her brothers, Ridwan and Irfan Gazi, are suspects in the case and are absconding. The Hyderabad Police released pictures of four Bangladeshis, including that of Ridwan and Irfan.
While the Tamil Nadu Police denied that the Special Investigation Team probing the Hyderabad blasts had sought its assistance in probing the Vellore angle involving Jani, the police here quietly conducted its own investigations early last week after seeing reports of the girl’s arrest in newspapers.
Jani’s passport and student visa details, which were available with the District Police Superintendent’s office that also serves as the Foreign Registry Office, were verified.
The Vellore police were in the process of checking the number of leaves that Jani had taken to leave town between May and August. The Vellore police said Auxillium College principal Ujjam Fathima informed the police that she had gone home during the summer holidays in May when the Mecca Masjid bombing took place on May 18. She took leave again for two days in July and again sought leave for five days after the blast from August 28.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police team also visited the house in Vellore where she had stayed. Jani had registered as a foreign national in 2005 when she took admission in the Auxilium College and her student visa was said to be valid up to 2008. Jani stayed in a rented accommodation in Katpady and was said to be “a quiet sort” keeping to herself mostly. Her only visitor was her ailing father, Jainal Abedin Gazi, who was being treated at Christian Medical College Hospital, police said.

Security agencies investigating the arrest of 11 suspected militants this year at the Haridaspur border checkpost in Bongaon — about 100 km from here — have come up with shocking evidence of political patronage to such elements.
Suspected to be key operatives of terror networks, some of the men possess letters issued by local panchayat heads certifying them as bona fide “local residents” having “good moral character”. Some letters even urge security agencies to extend all help.
Take Sheikh Khalifatullah Khan, one of the 11 arrested who faces charges of having links with the Hizbul Mujahideen. His interrogation and scrutiny of records revealed that he had crossed over from Satkhira in Bangladesh into the border town in 1999. He has since married a local woman whose house is near Swarupnagar, right on the Indo-Bangla border.
Khalifatullah has reportedly confessed to carrying out at least three “operations” in Kashmir during his stay there from 2004 to 2007. He also stayed in Mumbai for two months prior to that, and claimed to have taken arms training in the Valley.
